Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences Launches “PRAGATI-2024”, an initiative to shape the future of Ayurveda

Context

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush, launched “PRAGATI-2024” to promote collaborative research in Ayurveda.

The initiative aims to foster partnerships between CCRAS and the Ayurvedic drug industry, emphasizing the industry’s vital role in advancing the sector.

 The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS):

• Established in 1978, it works under the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy) in India.
• Aims to conduct research in Ayurveda, traditional Indian medicine, and other holistic health systems.
• Undertakes scientific validation of traditional medicines, formulations, and practices.
• Runs various research centres and institutes across India.
• Engages in collaborative research projects with national and international institutions.
• Promotes the integration of Ayurveda into mainstream healthcare.

1. The interactive meeting aimed to explore research opportunities and collaboration between CCRAS and the Ayurveda drug industry.
2. Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, highlighted the industry’s crucial role in Ayurveda development.
3. He emphasised the potential for industry expansion and advancement, especially with the influx of new practitioners and startups.
4. DG of CCRAS, Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, highlighted the growing momentum of Ayush products globally.
5. CCRAS initiated scholarships and programs to engage students and teachers in research, aiming to reach every stakeholder.
6. Advisor (Ayu.) of the Ministry of Ayush, Dr. Koustubha Upadhaya, stressed the importance of research and industry collaboration for societal benefit.
7. He emphasised the need for rigorous research to ensure the quality, safety, and effectiveness of Ayush products.
