Soil is a combination of minuscule particles that are invisible to the naked eye, along with decaying organic matter, rocks, air, and water. 

• Particles: Soil comprises tiny particles that are too small to be seen without a microscope.
• Decaying Matter: Dead and decomposing plants and animals contribute to the organic content of soil.
• Rocks: The mineral component of soil comes from the breakdown of rocks over time.
• Air: Pores in the soil allow for the circulation of air, which is vital for plant roots and soil organisms.
• Water: Soil holds water necessary for plant growth and serves as a medium for nutrient transportation.

Types of Soil

Different soils have various properties based on their composition:

• Sandy Soil: Sandy soil is characterized by its pale color and large particles, creating numerous small air gaps. This type of soil allows water to drain through easily, resulting in a typically dry feel.
• Clay Soil: Clay soil is sticky with small particles, containing minimal air gaps. Water does not drain easily through clay soil due to its compact nature.
• Chalky Soil: Chalky soil, appearing as a light brown soil, facilitates quick drainage of water through it.
• Peat Soil: Peat soil is devoid of rock particles and is composed of decomposed plants, making it dark, crumbly, and rich in essential plant nutrients.
