Variety

Signboards
Meaning: Boards with signs or instructions, often seen on roads.

Concrete
Meaning: A hard material made from cement, used for roads or buildings.
Example: Rishi walked on a broad concrete road to his Mama’s house.
Narrow
Meaning: Not wide, thin, or small in width.
Example: The mud road to Mama’s house was narrow and winding.
Recognise
Meaning: To know or identify something because you’ve seen it before.
Example: Rishi could recognise roses and marigolds in the garden.
Amazed
Meaning: Very surprised or impressed by something.
Example: Rishi was amazed by the beauty of the village flowers.
Tulip
Meaning: A bright, cup-shaped flower that blooms in spring.
Example: Nonikaa showed Rishi a tulip in their garden.
Kashmiri
Meaning: Related to Kashmir, a place in India known for its culture.
Example: Rishi ate a Kashmiri dish called haakh with rice.
Festival
Meaning: A special celebration with food, music, and activities.
Example: Nonikaa told Rishi about the Kashmir tulip festival.
Buransh
Meaning: A red flower (Rhododendron) that blooms in spring.
Example: Rishi said buransh flowers are used in his spring festival.
Mustard
Meaning: A plant with yellow flowers, often used for seeds or oil.
Example: Rishi’s family places mustard flowers at doorsteps during festivals.
Bless
Meaning: To wish someone happiness or protection, often by elders.
Example: The elders bless Rishi during the spring festival.
Vishu
Meaning: A festival in Kerala celebrating the Malayali new year.
Example: Chiya’s friend Unni celebrates Vishu with yellow amaltas flowers.
Amaltas
Meaning: A tree with bright yellow flowers, also called golden shower.
Example: Unni uses amaltas flowers for the Vishu Kani ritual.
Auspicious
Meaning: Something that brings good luck or success.
Example: Vishu Kani is an auspicious ritual for a prosperous year.
Harsh
Meaning: Very difficult or severe, like bad weather.
Example: Mami said spring comes after the harsh winters.
Sway
Meaning: To move gently back and forth, like in the wind.
Example: Flowers sway in the breeze during springtime.
Germinated
Meaning: When a seed starts to grow into a plant.
Example: People carry germinated grains during the Sarhul festival.
Reverence
Meaning: Deep respect or admiration for something sacred.
Example: Sarhul festival shows reverence for the Earth and Sun.
