in choosing a technologies I've got to
decide using something so comfortable
with almost okay then this might be a
piece of technology that they're using
currently it's a piece of technology
that's easy to pick up it is very
tempting when you come across a new
technology to just use it and use every
single tool or every single feature that
they have if you're completely
uncomfortable then start smaller do
little steps sticking to the basics can
be good for someone who's just getting
to know an online learning environment
however it's all a case of building
blocks and picking the right one for the
right purpose is quite important making
sure that that aligns with the student
experience that the students who are new
to blended or online learning I think
that you can't start using all the bells
and whistles that might be more suitable
to a more experienced group a simple
system is better than something that has
got lots of bells and whistles and
allows a lot everything you know or all
kinds of bits and pieces like too many
cooks spoil the broth so you probably
don't want to introduce too many
different tools in one subject if you're
using let's say four to five you know
new tools students do get distracted and
they find it very overwhelming to cope
with
one thing that I've learned is that you
really need to teach the students about
the online environment the students when
they use it for entertainment that's a
very different mindset when and when
they're asked to use it for teaching and
learning and that's a very different
mindset to them again I think that
