hello everyone and welcome to roly's
first free online course an introduction
to the Seaboard rise my name is eran
vera I'm an associate professor at the
Berklee College of Music an Ableton
product specialist a writer producer
artist and keyboardist among other
things when I first got my rise I
thought to myself wow this instrument
really gets me and I'm excited to be
here teaching you how to get the most
out of yours the materials in this
course aren't just for sea boardís
although it was written specifically for
them if you're interested in knowing
more about the Roli products learning
about the recent advancements of control
surfaces or MIDI and MPE data or
learning some beginning synthesis then
there's something in here for you too
throughout the duration of this course
I'm going to give you a rundown of how
to physically get the most out of your
Ryze and digitally get the most out of
its associated virtual instrument
equator will be using equator both as a
standalone app and inside of a digital
audio workstation you're gonna get a
very brief crash course in some music
synthesis basics providing you just
enough info to feel confident and
tweaking important parameters in
designing your own sounds you'll get a
clear understanding of MIDI and MPE and
historical and technical context as well
as a philosophical look at how
instruments like the Seaboard are
innovating and challenging its many
applications you'll get an introduction
to how to use blend in order to engage
with this course and introduce you to
the global community of music makers
writing this course required that I
expand my knowledge and understanding
far beyond what it was before I began I
don't straight into the depths of what I
can definitively say is the bleeding
edge of music technology somehow made it
to the other side and now I'm here to
teach you everything I learned I'm very
