to my channel this series is a series of
tutorials on Fortran programming now in
the last video we looked at the
typecasting the case insensitivity issue
in program sorry in Fortran and what
happens do let me see if I can recall
the kind of truncation that happens
during a typecasting alone okay now just
to finish that off the truncation finish
that off the typecasting part of it the
the what do you guys see what do you
guys see I saw in the last program is
that it was an example of explicit
typecasting so an implicit typecasting
where and he did not do any type casting
manually wherever the compiler did it on
its own on Olympia that's why it's
called implicit typecasting whereas
there is this option called as explicit
typecasting wherein you can force you
can are voluntarily and manually do a
typecasting on your choice how is that
there are some it's simple what you can
do is that's here since F is actually a
float and they are assigned to an
integer but if you do is just type int
and close this bracket and within that
write the variable name suppose you want
a real number type real within the clock
within the brackets type like this as
simple as that what do you do is that
now you are explicitly converting the
type of the value type of the number
into the stuff now if I was to run this
I won't get any warning I won't get
anybody because now the compiler knows I
don't know I'm doing an explicit
typecasting and so it's not showing
anything but if we were to illicit
typecasting or do an implicit
typecasting it knows that it's it just
gives us a warning that are you sure you
want to do with the typecasting that I
have to follow or not okay similarly
there are type castings for character
and all but this said this is surface
like more than suffice
this is self sufficient the typecasting
error mostly comes during you know
during real numbers to integer integer I
mean the typecasting issue comes only
during integer to real conversions I
mean even that's fine but real to India
conversion is value you get you get a
major setback with typecasting or no

that being said let's find this program
up the last video in the last few videos
we looked at you know getting these
values of the area of the triangle we
thought of you know getting the area of
the triangle well I mean size of the
value a triangle from the user okay so
what I do is that I just comment this
out and there's another very simple way
to get these values it's using this
common colors read comment so what they
do is they just print the statement to
the user stating that and the sides or
the sides of the triangle now how to
fetch these values is that using the
command read okay
you type read command and type a star a
sticks and a comma and then type a comma
B comma C now what it does is that I
said when you as we enter values and
click value separator or an Enter key
the valleys get values are read from the
console and gets stored to the
corresponding variables now here in this
read command the first value gets towed
to a the next value goes to stores to B
and C it's a thermal it goes to C and
this star indicates that this this read
command just like this print command
assemble his unformatted meaning does
not have any format it is free to follow
any format free to follow the compiler
by the device formats okay now as simple
as that now to make it to ensure that we
got them right what we can do is that

matter
the a of the triangle is 8 point 8 1 8
units and these are getting printed
because we just use these statements
here so nothing to worry perfect now let
me just run this again now there's
another way to get ready the value see
what I can do is I can just give about
give it as 8 I'm accelerating here ok
suppose what if I give a comma and then
an extra a comma and then the next value

comma I'll run this again what if I give
a value your space will it accept 8

space is accepted but probably have
