PostgreSQL today I will tell you about
the arithmetic operators in PostgreSQL
so for that I will be using SQL shell so
first of all we should login and we see
the screen so the arithmetic operators
that we will talk about is the addition
operator the multiplication operator the
division operator the mod operator the
exponential operator factorials square
root and cube root so first of all I
will tell you the simple addition
operator that is select 2 plus 3 that
will give you 5 so you see the result
here that we get 5 similarly we can do
another arithmetic operation that is the
multiplication that is 2 star 3 that is
6 as we know
similarly for division we have suppose
10 divided by 5 and we get 2 so these
are the simple arithmetic operators that
are available in PostgreSQL so if you
want to clear the screen now you could
use this backslash exclamation mark
space and see LS so the screen gets
clearer next we will use the mod
operator that is the remainder operator
so we should use select 14 mod 4 that
will give us 2 because 4 into 3 is 12
and we have a remainder of 2 next we
will use the exponential operator that
is select 2 exponential 3 should give us
8 and you see we get 8 because 2 power 3
is 8 next we will use the factorial that
is select 5 factorial and you see we get
120 now I will clear the screen again so
that you feel it easy to read yeah now
we will talk about finding the square
root of a number that could be find
found out by select pipe slash 25 it
would give us 5 so you can see how we go
and find out the square root of
now we will be finding out the cube root
of a number that will be fine found out
by select double pipe splash and 27 and
you see we get three so these are all
