50 where we get to explore our text tool
now the way we create text first we
click on the layer or image and drag
this box we also this dialog box called
text editor appears here we can type in
our text for example press ENTER to get
a new line and now we can close that box
and every time we click here it will
appear again now we can create this text
dialog we also create a new text layer
later you can put this layer on a new
layer in adjust it as layer but we get
placed in our next videos here our first
option is we can select our font you get
to choose from many phones that cannot
GIMP but also if you want to import a
font you can see from preferences
folders fonts you can see where your
fonts are found where is your folder to
put your new fonts and if you do that
next time you have this font here now in
this menu we'll get to zoom out and see
them smaller see them bigger we can see
them as a list like that or as a grid
like that or you can choose to open your
fonts dialog here and if you have
important new dialog you can click this
refresh button and that phone will
appear without having to restart game
now it's good if you work with text a
lot it's good that you grab this dialog
and dock it here
and you have a quick access to your
phones every time you want to
now this dialog box you can adjust it by
clicking on this side boxes
you know just the size of that box you
can also move it like that now the next
thing is the size of our font we can
change that we can work on pixels inches
millimeters points an hour and also have
in mind that different fonts have
different sizes so when you switch in
between you all the options here will
work differently for the selected font
now what hinting means is that it tries
to make your text look better especially
if the font is small the letters are
small a forceout - hinter also tries to
make text look better this is off by
default because it doesn't work good
with some fonts you have hinting by
default you can also try to force the
outer hinter it's entirely up to you if
it looks good to you use it until I mean
arising what this means is that when
it's on produces smoother edges and
curves you can get to see those jagged
edges again you have to zoom in or it
works differently with different fonts
now here in our text editor the way we
use this is you can use the selected
font now by default the font that you
have selected here and that appears in
your box here does not appear here in
the text editor so if you use this you
can get see that font here if you want
to you can clear the text if you press
this this will delete your text
this is an option when you get to right
from right to the left from here to here
this works with some Arabic phones and
other languages that have right thing
