How to Select - GIMP 2.8 tutorial Video Lecture | A GIMP 2.8 Tutorial for Beginners - Design Softwares

hi in this tutorial will show you how to
select objects using the fuzzy select
tool one of my subscribers asked me how
to do that and all you need to do is
grab it and then click on the desired
object which is this plant here and as
you can see everything is selected and
this is how professionals do it of
course this is a joke I wish it was that
easy I just saved previously made
selection to an alpha Channel and when I
click on the fuzzy tool and click on the
plant here it transferred the selection
I'll talk about channels in a future
tutorial and the beginners guide but in
this one let's just select this and
start from the beginning and select this
plant using the fuzzy select tool let's
increase the threshold here to 30 and
click anywhere on the plan
and you see most of it is now selected
and of course this is because I haven't
deleted this now let's deselect the game
and click again here then go to add
selection and let's zoom in a little bit
we start adding
I use the ctrl key and mouse wheel to
zoom in and out
here holding down the control key I'll
get the subtract from selection mode
click here and this select these areas
undo this click here
undo this will need to decrease this to
be able to select this
without going to the background
decrease it a little bit more
here we maybe you can use the quick mask
mode brush to get rid of this
against like before the select tool
and here again we need to subtract this
here too
and here I clicked on an area with a
very similar color to the background and
I selected a lot of it so I'm going to
undo that and try to refine this
okay so let's go down here which is the
most problematic area and crease this a
little bit
the reason that this area can be a
problem is because here the pixels are
very similar colors to the ones down
here and this makes the fuzzy tool
select them too that's why we need to
spend some more time here and do this
now let's hold down the ctrl key to
subtract from the selection here and
here do this you need to play around a
little bit until we get the best result
now the next thing I'll do is again use
the quick mask mode and try to remove
this area using this tool
you can see how this looks
it's pretty well of course we can
continue to refine the selection here
using the fuzzy select tool and the
quick mask mode but I think you get the
point
how this is done just switch between
subtract and have to selection adjust
the threshold until you get what you
want now I'm going to stop here because
to refine this will take a lot of time
and I'm just going to see how this is
gonna look on a bit on white background
ctrl I to invert the selection and then
go to cowers curves and I'll do
something like this
click okay control shift a to dis select
and you see how this looks on a white
background maybe you can grab the razor
to remove some of the area here like
this and I think it looks pretty well
for that little time spent on selection
on this pretty complicated object here
