hi in this tutorial I'll show you how
you can remove a background and replace
it with another one and in this case
I'll remove this black background and
replace it with this image here now as
you can see this flower is on a black
background which makes it a lot easier
to isolate but over here at Mizzou main
we have some underexposed part which
will be which will not be selected
correctly and need to apply some other
selection techniques like using the
quick mask mode and the brush tool I'm
going to show you that now first thing
I'll grab the fuzzy select tool click
here and you see the problem with this
area so turn on the quick mask mode grab
the brush tool and I can click here and
hold down the shift key and click here
again and create something like this now
the next thing I'm going to do is turn
this off let's zoom in go to select grow
I'm going to grow with just one pixel
now these numbers here can be different
depending on the image you have to
experiment a little to see which one
works best but for this image one pixel
is enough then I'll go to select feather
and this time with two pixels again
click OK
and then just click the Delete key then
ctrl shift a to deselect and you see now
this is nicely isolated and on a new
background now what I can do next is
just flatten the image you have a new
image here now if this image is on this
background isolating it it will be much
more difficult but still for example a
good starting point will be using the
foreground select tool and the reason
for that is because
this the cour of the flower is very
different from the color of the
background so I can make the initial
selection here
then I'm going to use the brush to paint
a little bit here goes to work
and now I have to click the Enter key to
apply the selection and you see we have
a very good starting selection of course
we have a lot of problems here that we
can fix again with a quick mask mode and
the brush tool so when you have a
different kind of background let me just
turn this off if it's not a background
that it's with one color but with many
colors like this one making the
selection will be difficult but then
again it when you're finished you can go
to the select grow it or maybe shrink it
a little feather it hit the Delete key
isolate it and then place the flower or
whatever you are trying to isolate on
another background so that's it for this
