hi in this episode of The Beginner's
Guide I'm going to continue with another
color tool called levels you can access
this tool from the colors menu and
select levels this tool is used to make
an image layer or darker also can be
used to change the contrast or to
correct a predominant color cast this
first option called presets allows you
to load previously saved settings right
now I don't have anything saved so i can
use this option here to add settings to
favorites but before that let's make
small changes to the settings here then
i'll click on the option type in tests
and then click ok and now you see that
these test settings appear in the
presets before that let's reset the tool
and then i'll select this test preset
and you see that my settings are loaded
let's reset a game and use this option
over here and from here you can import
settings to a file export settings or
you can manage settings and let's click
on the last one and you see we get this
dialog and with the first option again
we can import settings with the second
one we can save selected settings
because we may have more than one
previously saved settings and the last
one will allow us to delete the selected
settings and I'm going to do this and
close this dialog next we can select
different channels the first one is
value now I'm going to talk in detail
about the input and output levels but
for now I'm going to use them just to
demonstrate how the different channels
work and the first one value makes
changes to the value of all RGB channels
in the image and the image becomes
darker
or lighter next we have red green and
blue and these work on a particular
color channel and the image gets more or
less of the selected cower and also
remember that adding or removing a cower
results in removing or adding the
complementary color and if you are
wondering what the complementary color
is you can go ahead and open the
hue/saturation tool and here you can see
that for the red the color is scion for
green is magenta and for blue is yellow
now let's close this and go back to the
levels tool and if I select the red
channel grab this slider and move it to
the right you see that we are removing
red and adding scion and if I grab this
one over here and move it to the left
you see that adding red and I'm also
removing sign let me reset this and go
to the green channel and you see if I
grab this and move it to the right we
are removing the green and we are adding
magenta and if I grab this one and move
it to the left we are adding green and
removing magenta and for the blue
channel more yellow less blue or more
bull less yellow so I'm going to
continue in the next part this too is
one of the most complex tools in GIMP
and there is a lot to cover so i'm going
to divide this tutorial in parts and
