hi with this video I'm going to start
redoing my older game 2.6 beginner's
guide videos I'm going to start with
setting up your workspace I'm going to
skip the introduction of videos when you
first start GIMP it will look something
like this you have two docks and one
main image window one of the ducts
contains the tool box with the two
options and the other dark contains tabs
with different dark dialogues like
layers channels down here we have
brushes and other dialogues something
that you need to know is that GIMP
remembers the way you set up your
workspace so if I position the main
image window over here next to the tool
box expanded and then if I close GIMP
and start it again you see that will
start the way I left it now in GIMP 2.6
we didn't have much choice the only
thing we can do is position the two
docks and the main image window and also
scale them resize them but in gimp 2.8
we actually have the option to work in a
single window mode when you go to the
windows menu here you can select this
option single windows mode and you see
what this did to GIMP then you can use
this over here click and drag it to
resize the tool box with the two options
and also you can resize this dock over
here so just decide which one you want
to use the single window mode or the
other mode with the three different
windows and once you do that and close
game every time you start it you see
that Kim remembered the way you left
your workspace so this is the first
thing you need to do right after
installing GIMP I personally prefer to
work in the single window mode but of
course you have the choice to use the
multiple windows if you want to and for
those of you who are watching my
beginners guide I'm going to include
some information and description so
