Grid Text Effect 2 - GIMP 2.8 Tutorial Video Lecture | A GIMP 2.8 Tutorial for Beginners - Design Softwares

hi in the previous video I showed you
how to create this grid text effect and
then this one I'm going to show you how
to create this effect and also i'm going
to explain how you can increase the
space between squares because the filter
does not provide such option and we have
to do this manually so let's get started
by closing this project and then create
a new one from the file menu new now
select one of the templates go to the
advanced options and select the
foreground color click ok and this
created a background with a black color
then again I'm going to use the text
tool click side GIMP then I'm going to
click on show a to select the text use
the boat option change the color to
white for now and also type 250 pixels
next I'm going to grab the rectangle
select tool click and drag and down here
for the sides i'm going to type 7 50 and
200 then just click enter then i'm going
to create a new layer from this option
click OK and then i'm going to click in
the middle of the selection to apply it
then i'm going to use the Edit menu
filled with the background color which
is white then ctrl shift a to deselect
and also go to layer auto crop layer I'm
going to position this over here and now
go to the filters gimmick and for those
of you who are new to my tutorials this
is a plugin I'm going to include a look
in the description where you can
download it next I'll go to the arrays
in frames find grid and then i'm going
to type 74 the excise
and seven for the white sighs and by the
way you can also create rectangles with
this filter you can type in different
numbers for x and y and you'll get a
rectangle but if you want to get a
square the numbers here must be the same
then I'll just click OK grab the move
tool and position this over here for now
I'm going to zoom in holding down the
control key and turning the mouse wheel
and you see that the space between the
squares is very small we can change that
using the Select by color too I'm going
to click on one of the squares then i'm
going to select menu shrink and i will
use just one pixel click ok then control
I to invert the selection then I'll hit
the Delete key then control I to invert
the selection again and by the way you
can do that also from the Select menu
and word then i'll use one of the
gradients again to fill this with color
and select again this one then i'll
click and drag hold down the control key
to get a straight line and then release
then ctrl shift a to deselect next let's
select the move tool and also click on
this move the active layer option
because the space between the squares is
transparent you may end up picking up
the background layer instead of the
layer with the squares so this option
should be selected and then we are going
to position this over the text
next make the layer with the text active
by clicking on it right click and select
alpha to selection then I'm going to
also make this layer invisible and then
make this one active this time I'll go
to the Select menu and selecting work
option and then hit the Delete key and
then I just ctrl shift a to deselect and
maybe we can go to layer there to
mid-size and you see our text looks and
a little tip if you want to make this
text bigger therefore higher quality you
can multiply the numbers that are used
and also like I mentioned in the
previous video you don't have to use a
gradient you can use the color of your
choice and that's pretty much all for
