hi in this video I'm going to be
answering another question from a
subscriber how to print high quality
very small tiny text in images let's go
to the file menu select new and then
expand the Advanced Options menu and
here you can see the X&Y resolution of
your project and by default this is set
to 72 pixels per inch and this is a
standard number which works just fine if
your work is going to be viewed on
computer screens but if you are planning
on printing your work you should change
the X&Y resolution to 300 pixels per
inch and if you go ahead here and select
the templates you'll see that the
templates that are for printing you see
here we have 300 PPI which stands for
pixels per inch
so let's do a little experiment here I'm
going to select one of the templates and
this one a4 then I'm going to change
here the units to inches and I'm going
to leave the X&Y resolution to 300 and
just click OK now I'm also going to
select File new again and I'm going to
select the scene template again change
it to inches and this time I'm going to
type 72 and click OK now I'm going to go
back to the first one grab the text tool
click and write something
let's say simple text I'm going to zoom
in and this is 100% you see the text
looks very good and if I grab the text -
again you see that this text is only 18
pixels now let's go to the next project
text - again and write the same text and
the size of the text is again just 18
pixels but look how much bigger it looks
compared to the size of the entire
project
so let's say if I clip with the text -
and try to make it smaller for example
just 4 pixels now let's go ahead and
zoom in you see we can even read the
text now so you cannot use the 72 pixels
per inch X and wide resolution and get
high quality small text so if you are
planning on printing your work start
your project with 300 pixels per inch
X&Y resolution next about the images you
can add an image to this project by
going to the file menu open these layers
or you can simply just drag and drop an
image in GIMP and once you do that you
can scale it down to the size that you
want and of course the bigger the width
and height of the image the better but
there is something else that I'm not
entirely sure how it affects the quality
of the printing once you have imported a
digital photograph into your project
like this there is something called exif
data and this is in simple words
additional information that is stored in
the file that you can view and if you
don't know how to view it you can just
do a google search how to view exif data
on a jpg image for example and also type
your system because in different systems
Windows Mac and so on it might be
different and in that exif data you can
find information about the camera model
all the time of the image was taken
exposure value for example another
information but also you
find information about the DPI dots per
inch and some images are taken for
example with 96 dpi others are taken
with 300 dpi and I'm guessing that a
higher number will give you higher
quality print so I hope that this was
