hi in this video for the beginners guide
I'm going to continue with the
preferences in gimp 2.8 so let's go to
the Edit menu and select preferences and
the next one is theme and you see that
we have two options here one is the
default which i'm using right now and if
i select the next one small and you see
once selected immediately everything
became much smaller so you can select
the one that you prefer often people ask
me how to install themes for gimp 2.8
and in gimp 2.6 it was easy there was an
installer and it was very easy to use
very easy to install and then select
from various themes but as far as i know
there isn't such installer for gimp 2.8
so far maybe i'm wrong if I am please
let me know in the comments but there is
a way to add themes to give 2.8 and I'm
going to until the link in the
description for a youtube video that
video is not mine is from another person
but it seems to be working for most
people so if you are interested in
adding teams go ahead and check it out
now let's move on to the help system
which is something that I think
beginners should be interested in and
the first option is short two tips and
this is something useful if you mouse
over to you get a tip also if you mouse
over some of the two options you see you
get tips also if you highlight an option
from the menu bar you see it again you
get a tip and of course once you are no
longer a beginner you can go ahead and
turn this off if it bothers you and the
next option is show help buttons and
this help button looks like this and it
will appear on different dialogues and
if you press it you will be directed to
a help page which is related to the
things that you are viewing right now so
if I click the help here I'll be
directed to a help page which is related
to this help system or
options here and you can also use the
keyboard shortcut f1 and by the way if
you turn this off and there are no help
buttons you can still use f1 to access
the help page and this help pages are
actually pages from the GIMP user manual
if you don't know this game has a very
well written user manual you can find it
online just do a Google search or you
can download it from the official GIMP
website give that org and if you notice
here I haven't installed the user manual
locally so I can only use the online
version and the help browser you have
two options use the GIMP help browser or
to use a web browser and i think that
the better choice is the web browser but
it all depends on what kind of browser
you have i use google chrome and using
this web browser option is much faster
for me so depending on what you have you
may experiment with both these options
and of course if you install the user
menu you can select the option to use
the locally installed copy and if you do
that even if you don't have internet
connection you can still access the help
system I recommend you take advantage of
the user menu and combine reading with
watching tutorials so that's it for this
