Paint With Leaves (animated brush) - GIMP 2.8 Tutorial Video Lecture | A GIMP 2.8 Tutorial for Beginners - Design Softwares

hi in this video I'll show you how to
create animated paintbrush in GIMP that
paints with leaves and of course you can
follow the steps from this tutorial to
create other brushes with other images
it doesn't have to be leaves now first
thing we need to do is to open some
images with GIMP and I already did that
in for about the images that I use you
can find the description you can open
images in GIMP by going to the file menu
open as layers or you can just drag and
drop images in GIMP next we need to make
sure that the images don't go outside
the canvas so let's go to the image menu
and select fit canvas to layers then I'm
going to zoom out a little bit
scroll down and shift-click here to make
only the first image visible then click
on it to make it active then right click
and select add alpha Channel next go to
the layers menu and select layer to
image size next I'll grab the fuzzy
select tool and click on the white area
I want to remove the background and
isolate leaf and go to the Select menu
and select grow and I will use just one
pixel click OK again go to the Select
menu and select feather just 2 pixels
click OK
now hit the Delete key then ctrl shift a
to deselect or you can go to the select
menu and choose now then click on the
next image to make it active and also
visible and I'm going to repeat what I
did with the first image and actually
I'm going to pause here to do the rest
of the images and save you some time so
I remove the background from all the
images next I want to scale down all the
layers so I'm going to shift click here
to add this chain to all layers and in
this way I can scale them all down
applause using the scale tool I'll click
here then I'm also clicking on this
chain to keep the aspect ratio and then
I'm start scaling down
let's say something like this and then
hit the scale button and again I'm going
to pause here because this is going to
take some time so all the images are
scaled now and I'll go to image fit
canvas two layers and again I'll go here
and shift-click to remove these chains
and the next thing I want to do is to
add a shadow to each leaf now start with
the first one so let's go to filters
lights and shadow
drop shadow and for offset EXO type 0
offset Y zero blur radius 20 and opacity
70 and I'll click OK now I'm going to
select the next leaf go to filters and
choose repeat drop shadow or you can use
the keyboard shortcut ctrl F so let's
try that and you see we added a shadow
and I'm going to pause here again to do
the rest of the leaves I added a shadow
to each leaf and now I'm going to
right-click select merge down then
choose the next leaf right click merge
down and again I'll pause here to do the
rest of the leaves so I finished merging
each leaf with its shadow it's time to
go to the file menu and select export
and first I'll select the destination
folder brushes then I'll type a name for
my brush then an extension GIH is for
gimp animated brush then click export
and this dialog will appear
I can type a description for my brush
and for ranks I'm going to type 13 and
select incremental then click export
once this is finished we can refresh our
brushes from here and you see the brush
appeared this new animated brush
next I'll go to a file I'm going to
close this project again file select new
and I will use one of the templates
click OK next I'll go to windows.com all
dialogs and select pain dynamics and
from this option or create new dynamics
and for the angle I'm going to choose
random and then I'll grab the paintbrush
tool adjust the size also I'm going to
adjust the spacing and then I can start
painting with my animated brush so this
