hi in this video I continue with gimp
2.8 preferences so let's go to the Edit
menu and select Preferences next up is
display and to show you the options here
I'll create a new project click on the
Advanced Options and fill with
transparency and click OK transparency
in GIMP is indicated with this
checkerboard and this is pretty standard
most software transparency is indicated
with the checkerboard like this and from
this option you can adjust the check
style by default is McDonald checks we
can select light checks we can choose
dark checks we can select white color we
can choose to be gray only or black only
I recommend keeping this on the default
mid-tone checks of course you can set
this to your preferences but I don't
recommend using black or white to avoid
confusion use light chex mix on checks
dark checks and maybe gray but black and
white depending on what you are doing
Gimple you may not know what's
transparency and what's not next we have
check size by default this is medium we
can change it to small and you see how
this looks now we can also choose large
again i think that the default option
medium works best next we have monitor
resolution and by default this is detect
automatically and in the GIMP menu it
says that this can be inaccurate so if
you're not sure that the number that you
have here is correct you can choose to
enter it manually now here if you don't
know how to find out your display
resolution just google the following how
to find my display resolution and maybe
also your system for example windows or
mac and once you know the width and
height of your displaying pixels I will
include the link in the description for
a Wikipedia article where you can read
how to calculate
you will display ppi and then you can
enter the numbers here of course if you
don't want to do all that you can use
this calibrate option when you click
here you get this window and you need a
real-life ruler to measure these rulers
and then enter the numbers here and
depending on which country you live in
you might want to change this to
centimeters maybe or leave it two inches
and once you are ready just click OK and
of course if you make changes here don't
forget to click this ok button to apply
them and that's pretty much all for this
