Turn Image into a Pencil Drawing - GIMP Tutorial Video Lecture | A GIMP 2.8 Tutorial for Beginners - Design Softwares

in this video I'll show you how to turn
an image into a pencil drawing using
GIMP I'm going to be using this image
for the tutorial the first thing I want
to do is to create two duplicates of
this image so I'm going to click here on
this option twice and I'm going to click
to select the top layer then I'll go to
the colors menu and choose
hue/saturation and over here I'm going
to reduce the saturation to -100 using
the slider and then just click OK to
apply the effect next I want to change
the mode of this layer to saturation so
I'm going to click over here and choose
the saturation mode then I'll move on to
the middle layer click on it to make it
active and change the mode to dodge next
with this layer selected I want to go to
the colors menu again and choose invert
the next step will be to go to the
filters menu bar and choose Gaussian
blur and over here I'm going to type 15
pixels click enter now the number here
for the blur radius depends a lot on the
size of the image so in this case you
can see the size of the image over here
and if you had a bigger image you're
going to enter a bigger number here if
you have a smaller image you enter a
smaller number but also you can
experiment with this it doesn't have to
be exactly 15 pixels you can experiment
with these numbers until you get the
desired effect but in this case for this
image I'm going to use 15 pixels and
just click OK to apply the effect once
the effect is applied you can see how
this looks now we can control this
further by selecting the bottom layer go
to the colors menu and choose levels and
here we have these small triangles that
we can grab and slide to adjust the
effect for example I'm going to grab
this left one and slide it
to the right like this then I'm going to
grab the right one and slide it to the
left something like this and then the
midpoint I'm going to adjust a little
bit and once I'm happy with the effect I
can just click OK to apply it and you
see how this image looks now so this is
a pretty fast and easy way to achieve
this pencil drawing photo effect using
GIMP just know that this works best if
you start with a clear detailed image so
