Action-platformer weapon switching with ammo part 2 Video Lecture | Construct Tutorial: Become a Game Maker - Game Development

hey buddy just when you start and this
is a next part of the tutorial but it's
not like the next part then we can move
on to something else I'm going to do
this next part in multiple variations to
let you guys find one find which one
works for you because I follow know that
I would like to do several variations of
weapons switching remembering walking
animation States so when a character
walks or something like that he
remembers the state so right i was in a
very fast idle pose he's not on the
walking pose and it remembers that state
there's no weapons or anything like that
now he's got them and he's got the
shotgun it lights up blue as you can
hear we got a shotgun and then what I
would like to do is once he we can't
shoot unless he's LS he actually has a
shotgun in his hands and I've set up
civil numbered States for that to happen
to every state is basically marked with
a number and so it can't do anything
because if I could one okay he now has a
number associated with that state he can
now shoot if he hits zero and I should
actually when I do hit zero i should
actually mark the shotgun as grayed out
so it's not highlighted but was what I
was trying to do was that he would
remember the state that he was in less
the last time and I'm trying still
trying to figure out that out if I had
this character set Addis animation set
had more animations I could basically
what we do in the 2d world is hack the
system he pulls up another animation
that looks like the other one so it's
like a running with the shotgun
animation is very similar to standing
was a lot of shotgun animation so they
do some tricks so he would walk or run
and the run animation it's not mine or
anything like that I just pulled off
google so it's kind of a jump walk
animation but he would basically
remember when
stopped to pull out the shotgun so I'm
trying to figure out how to do that and
then he's got the machine gun or at
least salt rifle and so you know he does
remember but I don't want the character
you know having to continually hit a the
button for whatever it should be he hits
the gun when he runs out of ammo and you
know now he shouldn't when he went to
switch it he should be going for it now
I'm trying to add in sound so that
should be right there should be a
clicking out of ammo and then that's a
shotgun sound but it should be when he
comes out of this walking animation
should be back to whatever holding gun
animation I maybe or a you know idle
with that gun animation so i might be
making a whole bunch of animations off
of these guys so and so i'll be doing a
couple of these small updates to this
particular part that's how it's going to
this is how it's going to actually look
on your mobile device actually it should
be a little bit bigger
so let's just like in 3d remembering
certain states okay so the enemy is the
animations are very very a whole buncha
actually I'm going to do something right
now and dealing with the right out or
maybe I should say that I'm i'm in a
whole bunch of like should I do it
should I not do it it goes into walk
pose I think for now I'm going to leave
it but i'll change it after the edge of
this tutorial okay guys um it is pretty
huge probably one of my longest states
that everything is ordered it's ordered
correctly but it's not order correct
Aleta how I would like it so let's skip
to this because it is like three or four
pages of code okay so i have for global
events and i'm going to tell you what
these are weapon actions disc basically
every animation state every action state
is associated with a number from 0 to 10
or so forth so as well he has a walk
animation that has a number associated
to it so when you push your key that it
says that inputs a number that will come
out with a certain animation or action
global number shot ammo shot ammo is
just shotgun ammo i'm going to have a
whole bunch of these dealing with sniper
ammo shotgun ammo assault rifle ammo
pistol amo icing GMO just I'll hope
it'll be a whole bunch of ammos global
number gun um i don't think i have that
associated with anything
oh that's associated with gun type so it
would be and I may not need that exactly
i'll update you in the next video gun
type tells tells me what type of God
he's using and basically akshay i doona
is associates it with basically the ammo
I think that's what it deals with now
let's see shotgun ammo I'll get back to
you on that one but the only workplace i
actually use it is set gone to two
seconds one Tyga see this tells me what
gotten i'm using is this like most
complicated all the states of all the
tutorials I've done global number of
salt ammo solve this is for the assault
rifle ammo okay let's get to our first
line of code details on colosso
basically the player on collision with a
shotgun basically this removes the
shotgun from the screen and puts it up
here but allows us to basically it holds
on to the ammo amount and all that stuff
and this is this should actually be ups
elite and I will go back into it again
this is a work in progress so this may
be removed in the next video as soon as
you collect with the shotgun you have
added 1660 shotgun shells to the shotgun
so basically you can shoot 660 shotgun
you have the ability you have an ammo
storage of 60 shotgun shells set text to
shock shot ammo so it's basically this
text the shotgun it will be changed to
60 and sets that text and so you
actually want to select shotgun
and then set text the shot ammo shot
ammo would be this global number on
collision with the assault rifle you do
exactly everything except i changed it
to two hundred bullets and then changed
it to assault mo assault I'll left arrow
press that mirrored this is basically
everything that we've covered in the
other tutorial except I set this action
so weapon actions for on the right its
weapon actions five so this is saying
okay you know on when i press this key
do this animation and it set the
animation here and i have another place
why set the animation this is a backup
system redundant yes but right now i'm
making sure everything works and then
deleting obsolete code later on right
arrow release that animation to idle set
weapon actions zero on left arrow
release set weapon actions 20 a weapon
action is supposed to represent idle gun
system on keypress one all the all it
right now all the guns are invisible the
actual player has a gun i'm not i'm no
longer parenting the gun to him now in
our whole other more even more advanced
system than this he will have arms
parented to the body of the character so
we will be dealing with that except this
on this one the god the guns are
parented oh excuse me are already you
know part of the character set animation
to assault off set animation to mad
um back on I need to change it that's
just shotgun that's basically switching
it let me switch in the actual animation
set up so you would go here yeah it
needs to be changed set animation to
walk shoot shotgun these may be obsolete
now so when you hit press one these no
longer are like or don't no longer
needed and you set the animation to walk
shoot shotgun set a weapon action too
and when that will will show that if you
that down below on to pressed basically
ignore these at animation to wash you
assault set weapon actions to one on
start of game asset in reached idle on
weapon searching amo switching on press
to set gun 22 is basically keeping track
of all the guns up we have on pressed
one is that gun 21 on z is down to track
one from assault a motive salt set text
a to ammo assault play and this is a
sound effect like off the internet and I
tagged it so assault so we could turn it
off so okay when Z is down and gun is
equal to two so you have to actually
press two and two will pull up the
assault rifle animation and animal
has to be greater than zero so I have
three conditions to allow me to subtract
one to let me to shoot set the ammo and
then play the sound if I don't have that
I can't do that same thing with a
shotgun at be pressing the Z button the
gun has to be number one so the first
one is the shotgun and the weapon
actions has to be too so when i push too
we will then hit we will then or weapon
a way to call it are basically we will
have the shotgun or hammer we press
number two it will set the global number
22 so that we can then subtract one from
ammo set text to shot ammo and play the
shotgun ammo sound shotgun shooting
sound on z release stop sound and slap
shot gun remember mode remember
basically weapon actions equal to once
is basically saying if it's equal to one
set animation is equal to 2 is set
animation if it's equal to 0 set
animation if it's for equal to set set
the animation if it's equal to 5 set
animation on 0 press set actions 0 and i
already put that way above if its arm if
pressed 0 then you just go through an
idle animation so we hit it big and
we're collecting with that wait 0 we're
back to idle animation the Milwaukee
animation so it is a lot of you know
remembering stuff and I do have probably
a lot of redundant code I don't need I
am making sure that I've covered on my
bases and then i will start stripping
out bad parts of code or improper parts
of driving drop code and i'll start
perfecting it
I may like it this way I kind of do
allows you to run run run now I may
build a run animation with you holding a
gun because at the moment not everything
is perfect and then i will add i'll
probably add more to this area i'll
probably adding some like a sliding door
right here so i'll show you how to do
that so you go through each section
right here and then you open up the door
here then you fight some covenant Zambia
that zombies by aliens or whatever so
guys you know just understand I'm
dealing with um trying to find the
perfect way the right way on how to do
this bring it to you guys so you
understand it remember we're moving up
from several ways to more complex ways
which yeah give you a massive headache
but allow you to develop better games
and once you get used to it you can say
yeah okay I don't need 50 lines of code
to open up a door but maybe I need 50
lines of code to operate one player
character so that the person controlling
them has an ease of controlling them are
