welcome everyone to exercise number 11
seeing this I would like to introduce
you the clip function and also to create
a new feature or new layer out of your
selections this is just the ongoing of
analysis regarding some releases and
also how to or maybe wet cut trees in
which lease you're here or you can see
here's some polygons which were all
which represents these leases and due to
some kind of analysis our our company
decided to cut trees only in this stand
on this lease here sorry and what is
addressing and that is that they have to
avoid cutting the trees around the
reverse here and there's also a
protected a protected bird species in
that area so we have to keep these
things in mind regarding of upcoming
analysis in the next videos but first of
all I would like to show you how to
concentrate only on this area and now to
create a new feature out of this and to
clip all or I want to clip this stream
layer just to cover this area so first
of all use a selection tool select
features per rectangle you can easily
create it like this otherwise if you are
not so easy to go with keep in mind that
you can have a look on your on your
features by using list of selection all
this by selection and just up one one
time clicking on streams so we cannot
activate or select these features just
by clicking now on the polygon number F
you will have this selection and by
right-clicking on leases you can choose
create layer from selected features but
keep in mind that this
our lair is not a new shapefile or
something like that something physical
is just a layer what also we need now we
will use the clip function to clip the
streams just on to be on that afterwards
it will just represent the area of the
LEAs ID number on the back so how to do
that we will use the clip function from
the geoprocessing tool bar geoprocessing
using clip dialogue appears so we have
an input feature which is the feature
you would like to clip this is in our
case streams and you have an out the
features used to clip the input feature
so the feature that defines the area
this is in our case the lisa's selection
we will store that information in our
geo database base which is called
Tongass and lease from those streams in
Lisa
I'll call factious there we won't apply
any tolerances in our case so we will
leave that blind or clear and just click
on ok.now geoprocessing is taking place
and in fact just go on geoprocessing
results the clip function is still
operating so it takes some time for my
emission due to the fact that I'm using
the VirtualBox environment so now it is
writing features and it is finished so
what I will do now right click and add
to display as you can see now you can
easily create and you
representation for that which is
different to the prior streams so this
is it for the moment so what we have
done now we have created a new layer and
also a physical thing if you look to the
view if we will go to the properties and
go to source you can see that it has a
location here it is stored in our Tungus
database which is not the case here for
the Lisa selection right click on it go
to properties there's just more why is
it there probably it is just temporarily
filled click on OK you will have a look
on that by creating new map no won't
like to save it click on that data well
it was it was created so we have a
failure physical feature now this was a
clip 1 that was wrong so once again
well no just at everything I have
take sometimes
moves into the lair
and I don't think
that there is one thing oh well there's
one Lisa which is some kind of hot metal
