acute data systems in this tutorial I'm
going to teach you how to prepay an
invoice in accounts receivable for Sage
100 today we'll be covering the
following topics and drink prepayment
for customer updating the accounts
receivable register and reviewing the
prepayment in customer maintenance let's
go ahead and take a look pre payments
allow you to enter cash received before
you actually enter an invoice into the
system in order to make a prepayment go
to accounts receivable module click on
mean and then click on cash receipts
entry you'll have to enter some
information for cash receipts deposit so
click on the next deposit number you can
have a description like prepayment this
is the bank code where your deposit is
gonna be made put in the cash deposit
amount of $300 and click accept this is
the cash receipts entry window you can
look up for the customer from here so
let's suppose Logitech Limited is a
company which is going to make a
prepayment the check number that they
sent us has the number of seven
eight-nine so let's enter that and the
amount received from them is $300 let's
go to the lines tab in the lines tab you
need to distribute the amount to a
unique invoice number that is easily
recognized as a prepayment so if we put
in the invoice number as two three six
nine you will notice that if this
invoice number does not exist for a
customer you will have a prompt there'll
be a prompt which will ask you is this a
prepayment click yes you'll notice that
there is an extension of P P which
stands for prepayment that gets attached
to the invoice number and the amount
$300 gets automatically posted to this
invoice number against the customer if
all the entries in the header and the
lines tab look correct go ahead and say
accept
in order to post the prepayment all you
need to do is click on the printer icon
which is on the bottom right hand side
we will go ahead and preview the
accounts receivable cash receipts
journal here you have the cash receipts
journal which shows you the $300 that
has been deposited into Wells Fargo Bank
close out of this go ahead and say yes
if it asks you to update the cash
receipts journal this is how you make a
prepayment in AR for a customer if you
want to verify the prepayment all you
need to do is go into the customer
maintenance tasks we will look up for
the customer logitech and go on the
invoices tab you will notice that the
prepayment is shown as a negative
invoice amount against the customer go
ahead and click accept if you have any
