today's video I'm going to share with
you how to find your target audience who
to write for so that you can sell more
books you're in for a treat today so
let's get started
hey there Garrett Pearson here author of
how to write a book ASAP and welcome
back to day three today we're going to
be talking about your target audience
and in yesterday's video day two here's
a link to day 2
ok go watch day 2 if you did not because
you need to know what it is you're
writing about now once you know what
you're writing about you need to find
out who your target audience is your
target customer now I'm going to look at
my trusted notes here to help me teach
you exactly what I want to teach you bub
your target customers are those who are
most likely to buy from you those who
are keyword you're most likely to buy
from you and you can find your target
audience by thinking about a couple
things their age location gender income
level education level marital and family
status personality attitudes values
interests hobbies lifestyles all of
these things play a big role in who your
target audience is now when you're
writing your book you need to write your
book directly to these people and if you
want to sell a lot of books you got to
know exactly who your target audience is
a lot of mistakes I see people make is
they just sit down and start writing but
they're really not writing for anybody
and so then their audience is not
attracted to them in fact nobody's
attracted to them because they just
wrote so in today's exercise I'm going
to teach you exactly what you need to do
to find your target audience now that
you know who your target audience is you
need to ask yourself a couple questions
and those questions are are there enough
people that fit my criteria ok meaning
is there enough of a market that I'll
sell a lot of books now you might not
care about how many books you actually
sell but it's important if you want to
get your message out there is there are
enough people out there that will be
entertained by my fiction book or that
will be will be able to learn from my
non-fiction book
well my target really benefit from my
book will they see a need for it do I
understand what drives my target to make
decisions can they afford my book okay
can I reach them with my message are
there are they easily accessible okay
answer those questions and think about
who it is you're writing your book for
now I'm going to again in today's
exercise I want to show you how to find
out who your target audience is now
first of all what is your subject the
next tip that I'm going to give you what
I want you to do is go to
search.twitter.com
search Twitter calm now start searching
for keywords that are related to your
subject or your genre of writing they
start searching out there and start
seeing what people are talking about
you'll be surprised at what's going on
and if there's a lot of conversation
around those keywords that you're
searching for in search Twitter calm
then more than likely you've got a
winner and then you can start asking
those people on Twitter you know what
they like about that subject or that
genre what other books have they read
recently about that subject or your onra
of writing okay so that's just a quick
exercise that I'd like you to do to
start searching now you just think of
the ten top keywords around your subject
or genre that you think people will be
talking about start searching it then go
you can also go from Twitter then go to
Google calm and just start searching go
to amazon.com see what other books have
been written see how they write to that
target audience now here's another thing
that I would suggest you do this is
something I do for all of my books I
send out a survey to family friends
email lists and if you don't have any of
those and what I do is I go to Google
Adwords okay just go to Google and
search Google Adwords and ague and make
Facebook Ads okay and I create these ads
and I send all that traffic to
survey and you can create a survey with
poll daddy Campillo ll da d dy comm poll
daddy calm or SurveyMonkey calm and
there's lots of others that you can
search for but I create a survey asking
three simple questions okay and you can
create those questions on what you want
to know from your target audience then I
start sending that traffic or sending
emails or sending on by Facebook and
asking people what they would like to
learn about in that specific on that
specific subject or genre this is really
going to help you know exactly what your
target audience wants and then you can
write your book exactly toward what they
want not necessarily what you want again
that's a mistake a lot of authors make
they write their books based on what
they want not what their target audience
wants if you find your target audience
research them survey them and write your
book to them then you're going to sell a
lot of books and this is going to help
you in the process of creating your plan
and your outline to writing your books
