Mastering Ember Js - 13 Ember helpers Video Lecture | Build Web Applications: Ember.js - Web Development

but everyone this is Lambie Dasani of
code logical and today we shall take a
look at ember.js help us listen just
slightly touching them and I shall show
you later where to go and get help on
them on the my website okay so if you've
been following along might have noticed
with that we did something like to
create a link it is something like link
to and maybe we'll put in some route
here say my rock and then did that -
close to Papa and it's a my route here
let's go ahead and create that rubs know
so let's say please don't say my rock
okay so let's go in our browser and
refresh this we do not see that link has
been created and we inspect the HTML we
should see a regular HTML link so how
does that work
basically this things that you see in
curly braces that's what you call help
us in in Amba the helper is just
something that does a quick job for you
so we just nothing wrong as I said doing
this and then saying for source has my
route
it's nothing wrong with doing this but
sometimes you will find that to bind to
classes which we'll get to soon as well
you might want to use the link to health
but because then you can do something
like class equal to you can easily bind
to stuff on you can it's it's a
shorthand basically for writing stuff in
ember so there's a lot of them it's not
just that link to helper there's not a
one called input which we'll get to soon
us also and I know I've been saying that
but yeah exciting times lots of stuff in
there box right you just have to take
time to cover them all ok so there's
another one called input and by default
it's I think it's type which will be
text so let's try that out we say input
yeah so let me see that in the browser
and see how that works and when you
refresh we get a normal input tag so
when we inspect that in chrome again we
get a regular input and as I said the
type is text by default and think you
can also set type for to radio refresh
yeah
so you see radio here and all of that is
done by M before so does it help us so
that's the breakdown of what helped us
in ljs and as we're going we'll make
more use of help us now so we won't be
doing stuff like a and then maybe
putting an action or something like that
but if we unless we have a reason to do
so we wouldn't be using that so from now
on we'll be using these helpers so
familiarize yourself with them and if
you want to learn more about helpers go
to the N by JS website and by J's calm
and then go to guides and there's this
part here called templates
so yeah link helpers here that talks
about how the link helper works and all
the stuff that he does bindings and all
that stuff and there he's also input
helpers here yeah so there's one
actually I did not touch so let me touch
on that as well which is the action help
so if you are inside a and a tag let's
say for example time you want to bind
one you want to when that link is
clicked then actually trigger so there's
something called action that's also
another helper in ember then you just
specify some action provided you have
created that either in your controller
or in your route so the action is also
another helper and the bind other as
well is another helper so I say we have
an image and we want to find the source
of the connect to some property in the
controller so we can do something like
buying butter and we can say source
equal to image source so image source
will be something that exists in our
controller or inside of model or the
controller and that will create an image
tag with a source of this property value
here but that's it guys for ember.js

a look at how to create our own helpers
