Gulzarilal Nanda's Early Life and Political Career:
Gulzarilal Nanda was born on July 4, 1898, in Sialkot, Punjab (now in Pakistan). He completed his education in Lahore and later moved to Allahabad, where he completed his law degree. Nanda actively participated in the Indian independence movement and joined the Indian National Congress. He worked closely with prominent leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi.

Nanda's Role as the Interim Prime Minister:
After the death of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964, Gulzarilal Nanda was appointed as the interim Prime Minister. He served in this capacity for 13 days until Lal Bahadur Shastri was elected as the new Prime Minister.

In 1966, after the sudden demise of Lal Bahadur Shastri, Nanda once again took charge as the interim Prime Minister. He held the position for 13 days until Indira Gandhi, daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, was elected as the new Prime Minister.
