If we do actual translation of this word in English it means 'born citizenship', n this means if a child has taken birth in a particular state n country then he/she will be from the same sate n country from where his /her one or both the parent belong from.

ex:- like bhoomika's parents belong from mumbai, India then she will be also from mumbai and an Indian too n this will also be possible when even if her one parent belon to mumbai, India.

भारत में एकल नागरिकता का प्रावधान है. भारतीय नागरिकता अधिनियम, 1955 के अनुसार निम्न में से किसी एक के आधार पर नागरिकता प्राप्त की जा सकती है:

(1) जन्म से प्रत्येक व्यक्ति जिसका जन्म संविधान लागू होने यानी कि 26 जनवरी, 1950 को या उसके पश्चात भारत में हुआ हो, वह जन्म से भारत का नागरिक होगा. अपवाद राजनयिकों के बच्चे, विदेशियों के बच्चे.

(2) वंश-परम्परा द्वारा नागरिकता: भारत के बाहर अन्य देश में 26 जनवरी, 1950 के बाद जन्म लेने वाला व्यक्ति भारत का नागरिक माना जाएगा, यदि उसके जन्म के समय उसके माता-पिता में से कोई भारत का नागरिक हो.
