Service sector accounted for nearly _________ percent of exports (2012...
Contribution to Exports: Services exports from India comprise services such as travel,
transportation, insurance, communication, construction, financial services, software,
agency services, royalties, copyright and licence fees and management services. India’s share
of services exports in the world exports of services increased from about 1 percent in 2000 to
3.3 percent in 2015 (2011). Earnings from exports of services account for an one third of total
exports earnings of India 2015-16. (Services account for around one third of total exports of
India (2012-13).) The potential for growth, however, continues to be large. Software and other
services such as business, technical and professional services have emerged as the major
categories in India's export of services. Indian services exports recorded a growth of more than
20 per cent per annum during 2001-13. However, due to uncertainty in the global economy
and weak growth in advanced economies, services export showed a lower growth of around 5
percent during 2013-16 (less than 5 percent in 2012-13.)
