Given:

Temperature at which resistance of tungsten filament is measured, T1 = 150°C
Resistance of tungsten filament at T1, R1 = 133 Ω
Temperature at which resistance is to be calculated, T2 = 500°C
Temperature coefficient of resistance of tungsten, α = 0.0045 per °C

Formula:

R2 = R1 [1 + α(T2 - T1)]

Solution:

Substituting the given values in the above formula, we get:

R2 = 133 Ω [1 + 0.0045 (500°C - 150°C)]
R2 = 133 Ω [1 + 1.755]
R2 = 133 Ω x 2.755
R2 = 366.915 Ω

Therefore, the resistance of the tungsten filament at 500°C is 366.915 Ω. The increase in temperature causes an increase in the resistance of the tungsten filament due to the positive temperature coefficient of resistance of tungsten.
