Zealandia has been given the status of a continent by several geologis...
Zealandia is also known as the New Zealand continent, or Tasmantis, is a nearly submerged continental fragment that sank after breaking away from Australia having separated from Antarctica between 85 and 130 Ma ago. It may have been completely submerged about 23 Ma ago and most of it (93%) remains submerged beneath the Pacific Ocean.
Zealandia supports substantial inshore fisheries and contains New Zealand's largest gas field, near Taranaki. Permits for oil exploration in the Great South Basin were issued in 2007. Offshore mineral resources include iron sands, volcanic massive sulfides and ferromanganese nodule deposits.
It is the world's largest current microcontinent, more than twice the size of the next-largest microcontinent and more than half the size of the Australian continent. As such, and due to other geological considerations (such as crustal thickness and density), it is arguably a continent in its own right.

Zealandia has been given the status of a continent by several geologis...
Zealandia is a unique geological feature that has been given the status of a continent by several geologists. Let's examine the given statements regarding Zealandia to determine which one(s) are correct.

1) Zealandia is a nearly submerged continental fragment:
This statement is correct. Zealandia is a continental fragment that broke away from the supercontinent Gondwana around 85 million years ago. It is often referred to as a submerged continent because it meets the criteria of being a distinct and continuous continental crust.

2) Most of it remains submerged beneath the Atlantic Ocean:
This statement is incorrect. While Zealandia is indeed largely submerged, it is not located in the Atlantic Ocean. Instead, it is primarily situated in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, east of Australia. It spans an area of approximately 4.9 million square kilometers, about five times the size of New Zealand.

3) It is the world's largest current microcontinent:
This statement is correct. Zealandia is considered the world's largest current microcontinent. A microcontinent is a small fragment of a continent that is separated by spreading tectonic plates. Zealandia meets the criteria for a microcontinent as it is composed of continental crust and is geologically distinct from the surrounding oceanic crust.

In conclusion, the correct statements regarding Zealandia are:

b) 1 and 3

1) Zealandia is a nearly submerged continental fragment.
3) It is the world's largest current microcontinent.

Therefore, option B is the correct answer.
