Reverse Bias Operation of PN Junction:
In reverse bias operation of a PN junction, the positive terminal of the voltage source is connected to the N-type material and the negative terminal to the P-type material. This creates a potential barrier at the junction which prevents the flow of majority charge carriers.

Low Current Flow:
During reverse bias operation, a low current known as reverse current flows through the PN junction. This current is very small compared to the current that flows during forward bias operation. The reverse current is primarily due to minority charge carriers (electrons in P-type material and holes in N-type material) that are able to overcome the potential barrier and drift across the junction.

Independent of Barrier Voltage:
The reverse current is independent of the barrier voltage applied across the junction. This means that even if the reverse bias voltage is increased, the reverse current remains relatively constant. The reverse current is mainly influenced by factors such as doping concentration, temperature, and the size of the depletion region.
In summary, during reverse bias operation of a PN junction, a low current known as reverse current flows through the junction. This reverse current is independent of the barrier voltage applied across the junction and is primarily due to minority charge carriers drifting across the potential barrier.
