Calculation of moles of CaCO3

Moles of CaCO3 = (Mass of CaCO3) / (Molar mass of CaCO3)

Molar mass of CaCO3 = 40.08 + 12.01 + 3(16.00) = 100.09 g/mol

Moles of CaCO3 = 2 g / 100.09 g/mol = 0.01998 mol

Calculation of moles of HCl

Moles of HCl = (Concentration of HCl) x (Volume of HCl)

Moles of HCl = 0.1 mol/L x 0.5 L = 0.05 mol

CaCO3 + 2HCl → CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
