Total population of a city is 57000. Out of these 85% are literate.
∴ literate population = 57000 × 0.85 = 48450
⇒ Illiterate population = 57000 – 48450 = 8550
Out of the total literate population, men and women are in the ratio of 11 : 8 respectively.
∴ Literate women = 8/19 × 48450 = 20400
⇒ Illiterate women = 25650 – 20400 = 5250
⇒ literate men = 48450 – 20400 = 28050
Required number = 28050 + 5250 = 33300

Total Population:
- The total population of the city is 57,000.

Literate Population:
- 85% of the total population is literate.
- Therefore, the literate population is 0.85 * 57,000 = 48,450.

Literate Women:
- 45% of the total population are women.
- Therefore, the number of women in the city is 0.45 * 57,000 = 25,650.

Ratio of Literate Men to Women:
- Out of the total literate population, men and women are in the ratio of 11:8.
- Let's assume the number of literate men is 11x and the number of literate women is 8x.

Equation:
- The sum of literate men and literate women is 48,450.
- Therefore, we can write the equation as:
11x + 8x = 48,450
19x = 48,450
x = 48,450 / 19
x ≈ 2,550

Total Number of Literate Men:
- The number of literate men is 11x = 11 * 2,550 = 28,050.

Total Number of Illiterate Women:
- The total number of women in the city is 25,650.
- Out of these, the number of literate women is 8x = 8 * 2,550 = 20,400.
- Therefore, the number of illiterate women is 25,650 - 20,400 = 5,250.

Total Number of Literate Men and Illiterate Women:
- The total number of literate men and illiterate women is 28,050 + 5,250 = 33,300.

Therefore, the correct answer is option C) 33,300.
