An operational amplifier with negative feedback has voltage gain of 150. It is found that without feedback, an input signal of 50 mV is required to produce a given output; where as with feedback, the input signal must be 0.5V for the same output calculate the value of β.
Correct answer is '0.6'. Can you explain this answer?

An operational amplifier with negative feedback has voltage gain of 15...
The gain with feedback (Af) of the amplifier is 150.
The input voltage required to produce same output voltage as for the amplifier without feedback is 0.5v.
The output will be (V0) =AF.Vi= 150x0.5 = 75V.
If no feedback is employed the required input to produce 75V is 50mV = 0.05V. Hence, the internal gain of the amplifier is :-

Feedback factor β.

Using the formula for voltage gain with negative feedback:

A = A0 / (1 + β*A0)

Where A0 is the open-loop voltage gain and A is the closed-loop voltage gain.

We know that A0 = 150 and A = 1 (since the output is the same for both input voltages)

So we can solve for β:

1 = 150 / (1 + β*150)

1 + β*150 = 150

β*150 = 149

β = 149/150

β ≈ 0.9933

Therefore, the value of feedback factor β is approximately 0.9933.
