Let his monthly income be Rs x.
Original savings = Rs. ( 10/100)x
New Savings = ( 10/100)x + 20/100(10x/100)
= Rs. ( 12/100)x
Original expenditure = x – (10/100)x
= Rs. ( 90/100)x
New expenditure :
= (90/100)x – (20/100) ( 90x/100)
= Rs. ( 72/100)x
Required  percentage :
[(12x/100)/(72x/100)] x 100 = 16.66%
