Solution:

Given:

  • Three numbers are in the ratio 5:7:12

  • Sum of the first and third numbers is greater than the second by 50

Let's assume the three numbers to be:

  • 5x

  • 7x

  • 12x

Sum of first and third numbers:

  • Sum of first and third numbers = 5x + 12x = 17x

  • Second number = 7x

  • Given, Sum of first and third numbers is greater than the second by 50

  • Therefore, 17x = 7x + 50

  • Solving the above equation, we get x = 5

Three numbers:

  • First number = 5x = 5 * 5 = 25

  • Second number = 7x = 7 * 5 = 35

  • Third number = 12x = 12 * 5 = 60

Sum of the three numbers:

  • Sum of the three numbers = 25 + 35 + 60 = 120

Therefore, the sum of the three numbers is 120.
