An electron and a proton are moving on straight parallel paths with sa...

Explanation:

Initial Conditions:
- An electron and a proton are moving on straight parallel paths with the same velocity.
- They enter a semi-infinite region of uniform magnetic field perpendicular to their velocity.

Effects of Magnetic Field:
- When a charged particle enters a magnetic field perpendicular to its velocity, it experiences a force perpendicular to both its velocity and the magnetic field direction.
- The force experienced by the electron and proton will be in opposite directions due to their opposite charges.

Paths of Electron and Proton:
- As the electron and proton have opposite charges, they will experience forces in opposite directions.
- This will cause them to move in curved paths due to the magnetic force acting as a centripetal force.
- Eventually, they will come out of the magnetic field region traveling along parallel paths, but in different trajectories due to their different masses and charges.

Time of Exit:
- Since the electron is much lighter than the proton, it will have a tighter radius of curvature and hence will exit the magnetic field region earlier than the proton.
- Therefore, the electron and proton will come out at different times due to their mass difference and the resulting difference in the radius of curvature of their paths.

Therefore, options B and D are correct as the electron and proton will come out of the magnetic field region traveling along parallel paths and at different times due to their mass and charge differences.
