►The rate per minute with the given changes (in percentage terms) would be :
►Set X = 11%, Set Y = 15% and Set Z = -6%.
►Hence, the net rate = 11 + 15 - 6 = 20%, per minute and it would take 5 minutes for the tank to fill. If all pipes are opened at 2:58, the tank would get filled at 3:03.

Directions for Question:A set of 10 pipes (set X) can fill 70% of a ta...
Given Information:
- Set X (10 pipes) can fill 70% of tank in 7 mins
- Set Y (5 pipes) can fill 3/8 of tank in 3 mins
- Set Z (8 pipes) can empty 5/10 of tank in 10 mins

To Find:
- The time taken to fill the tank if one pipe is added for set X and set Y and set Z's capacity is increased by 20% of its original value and all the taps are opened at 2.58 pm.

Approach:
- Calculate the filling capacity of each set of pipes in 1 min.
- Calculate the total filling capacity of all sets of pipes in 1 min.
- Calculate the time taken to fill the tank when all the taps are opened.

Solution:
- Set X can fill 70% of tank in 7 mins.
=> 1% of tank can be filled by set X in 10/7 mins.
=> Set X can fill 1/7 of tank in 1 min.
=> Set X can fill (10/7)% of tank in 1 min.
- Set Y can fill 3/8 of tank in 3 mins.
=> 1% of tank can be filled by set Y in 8*3 mins.
=> Set Y can fill 1/24 of tank in 1 min.
=> Set Y can fill (12.5)% of tank in 1 min.
- Set Z can empty 5/10 of tank in 10 mins.
=> 1% of tank can be emptied by set Z in 2*10 mins.
=> Set Z can empty 1/20 of tank in 1 min.
=> Set Z can empty (5)% of tank in 1 min.
- All sets of pipes can fill (10/7 + 12.5)% of tank and empty 5% of tank in 1 min.
=> The net filling capacity of all sets of pipes in 1 min = [(10/7 + 12.5) - 5]% of tank = (17.5/7)% of tank.
=> The net filling capacity of all sets of pipes in 1 min after increasing the capacity by 20% = (17.5/7 + 3.5/7)% of tank = (21/7)% of tank.
- Let's assume the tank's capacity is 140 liters (100% of tank).
=> The amount of water filled by set X in 7 mins = 0.7 * 140 = 98 liters.
=> The amount of water filled by set Y in 3 mins = 3/8 * 140 = 52.5 liters.
=> The amount of water emptied by set Z in 10 mins = 5/10 * 140 = 70 liters.
=> Therefore, the initial amount of water in the tank = 140 - 98 - 52.5 + 70 = 59.5 liters.
=> The amount of water that needs to be filled = 140 - 59.5 = 80.5 liters.
=> The time taken to fill 80.5 liters of water by all sets of pipes = 80.5 / (21/7)% = (80.5 * 7/21) mins
