The first independent Turkish kingdom in India was laid by Qutub-ud-din Aibak.

Explanation:
- Qutub-ud-din Aibak was a Turkish slave who rose to power and became the first Muslim Sultan of Delhi.
- He was a trusted lieutenant of Muhammad Ghori, the ruler of the Ghurid dynasty in Afghanistan.
- In 1192, after Ghori's conquest of Delhi, he appointed Aibak as the governor of the city.
- Aibak consolidated his power and declared himself the Sultan of Delhi in 1206, thus laying the foundation of the first independent Turkish kingdom in India.
- He established the Slave dynasty, which ruled over Delhi and parts of northern India for nearly 90 years.
- Aibak was known for his military exploits and his patronage of architecture, including the construction of the Qutub Minar, which still stands as a symbol of his legacy.
- His reign was marked by a series of rebellions and challenges to his authority, but he managed to maintain his grip on power until his death in 1210.
