Verified Answer
Trains A and B start from Chennai and Hyderabad towards Hyderabad and...
Train A stops after every 200 Km, B after every 160 km.
Train A to reach 1st stop will take (200 kms away) = 200/80 = 2.5 hours = 2 hrs 30 Mins.
So, Trains A will leave 1st stop at 2 hrs 30 Mins + 10 Mins = 2hrs 40 Mins = 1:40PM Similarly, at 4:20 PM (1:40 PM + 2 hours 40 minutes), train A will leave 2nd stop at a distance of 400 kms from Chennai.
Now consider, train B at 4:20 PM.
B Starts at 1:00PM, 1st stop after 160/100 = 1.6 hours = 96 mins.
So, at 1:00PM +96 mins + 10 mins, it will leave 1st stop = 2:46 PM
Next stop will be at 2:46 PM + 96 mins = 4:22 PM And B will leave its 2nd stop, which is at a distance of 320 km from Hyderabad at 4:32 PM.
Train A 4:32 PM will be at : 400 kms + 80/5 (12 mins = 1/5 hours) = 416 kms from Chennai.
Now we can take their combined speeds as they both will meet before the next stop.
Distance between them at 4:32 PM = 800 - (416 + 320) = 64 km Relative speed = 100 + 80 = 180 kmph Time taken = 64/180 hours = 21.33 minutes.
So, they will meet at 4:32 PM + 21.33 minutes = between 4:53 PM and 4:54 PM

Trains A and B start from Chennai and Hyderabad towards Hyderabad and...
Overview
To determine when Trains A and B meet, we first need to calculate their travel times, including stops.
Distance Calculation
- Total distance between Chennai and Hyderabad: 800 km
- Distance between any two stops for Train A: 200 km (25% of 800 km)
- Distance between any two stops for Train B: 160 km (20% of 800 km)
Travel Details for Train A
- Speed: 80 km/h
- Total travel time without stops: 800 km / 80 km/h = 10 hours
- Stops: 3 stops, each for 10 minutes (30 minutes total)
- Total travel time for Train A: 10 hours + 0.5 hours = 10.5 hours
- Departure time: 11 AM
- Arrival time: 11 AM + 10.5 hours = 9:30 PM
Travel Details for Train B
- Speed: 100 km/h
- Total travel time without stops: 800 km / 100 km/h = 8 hours
- Stops: 4 stops, each for 10 minutes (40 minutes total)
- Total travel time for Train B: 8 hours + 0.67 hours = 8.67 hours (or 8 hours 40 minutes)
- Departure time: 1 PM
- Arrival time: 1 PM + 8 hours 40 minutes = 9:40 PM
Relative Movement Towards Each Other
- Train A starts at 11 AM and Train B starts at 1 PM.
- By the time Train B starts, Train A has already traveled for 2 hours.
- Distance covered by Train A in 2 hours: 80 km/h * 2 hours = 160 km
- Distance remaining for Train A: 800 km - 160 km = 640 km
Time Taken to Meet
- Combined speed of both trains = 80 km/h + 100 km/h = 180 km/h
- Time to meet from 1 PM = Distance remaining / Combined speed = 640 km / 180 km/h = 3.56 hours (approx. 3 hours and 34 minutes)
- Therefore, meeting time = 1 PM + 3 hours 34 minutes = around 4:34 PM.
Adding the stop time of Train A (10 minutes for each of its 3 stops) gives a total delay of 30 minutes.
Thus, the meeting time is approximately 4:54 PM.
Conclusion
The two trains meet between 4:53 PM and 4:54 PM, confirming option 'C'.
