The Indus Valley Civilization, also known as the Harappan Civilization, was one of the earliest and largest urban civilizations of the ancient world. It covered an area of around 1.6 million square kilometers in present-day India and Pakistan.

The Indus Valley Civilization had well-planned cities that were divided into separate blocks. The cities had advanced drainage systems, public baths, and granaries. The streets were laid out in a grid pattern, and the houses were made of baked bricks.


Origin
