A ductile material having an endurance limit of 200N/mm2 and the yiel...
Solution:

Given data:

Endurance limit (Se) = 200 N/mm2

Yield limit (Sy) = 300 N/mm2

Maximum stress (Smax) = 150 N/mm2

Minimum stress (Smin) = 50 N/mm2

Fatigue stress concentration factor (Kf) = 1.3

We know that the modified Goodman relation is given by:

(Smax/Se) + (Smin/Sy) = 1/Kf

Substituting the given values, we get:

(150/200) + (50/300) = 1/1.3

Solving the above equation, we get:

0.75 + 0.1667 = 0.7692

The equivalent stress range is given by:

ΔS = Smax - Smin

Substituting the given values, we get:

ΔS = 150 - 50 = 100 N/mm2

The factor of safety (FoS) is given by:

FoS = Se/ΔS

Substituting the given values, we get:

FoS = 200/100 = 2

Therefore, the factor of safety for this loading is 2.

Answer:

The factor of safety for this loading is 1.50 to 1.52.
