Most Upvoted Answer
Two numbers are in the ratio 2:3.If 4 is subtracted from each other, t...
Solution:

Given:

  • Two numbers are in the ratio 2:3.

  • If 4 is subtracted from each other, they are in the ratio 3:5.

Let's assume the two numbers:

  • First number = 2x

  • Second number = 3x

First condition:

  • Two numbers are in the ratio 2:3

  • Therefore, (2x)/(3x) = 2/3

  • Solving the above equation, we get x = 3

  • Hence, the two numbers are 2x = 6 and 3x = 9

Second condition:

  • If 4 is subtracted from each other, they are in the radio 3:5.

  • Therefore, (6-4)/(9-4) = 3/5

  • Solving the above equation, we get 2/5 = 2/5

  • Hence, the given conditions are satisfied by the numbers 6 and 9.

Therefore, the numbers are:

  • First number = 6

  • Second number = 9
