The ratio of collector current to emitter current at constant collector base voltage is the current the amplification factor and given by
α = IC/IE = 0.98 (given)
The ratio of collector current to the base current at constant collector-emitter voltage is given by
β = fC/faThese are related as β = α/1-α
⇒ β = 0.98/1-0.98 = 0.98/0.02 = 49

In the study of transistor as an amplifier, the ratio of collector cu...
Explanation:
Transistor is a three-terminal device with terminals named as emitter (E), base (B) and collector (C). In transistor amplifier, the emitter current is considered as the input current and collector current is considered as the output current.

Given, the ratio of collector current to emitter current is 0.98

We know that,
Collector current (Ic) = β x Base current (Ib) + Emitter current (Ie)

where β is the current gain factor.

Dividing both sides by Ie, we get

Ic/Ie = β x Ib/Ie + 1

Given, Ic/Ie = 0.98

Substituting the values, we get

0.98 = β x Ib/Ie + 1

β x Ib/Ie = 0.98 - 1

β x Ib/Ie = -0.02

β = (Ic/Ib) / (Ic/Ie)

β = (Ic/Ib) / (0.98)

β = (Ic/Ib) / (98/100)

β = (100Ic) / (98Ib)

β = (50Ic) / (49Ib)

Therefore, the ratio of collector current to base current is 50:49 or 1.02:1

Hence, option B is the correct answer.
