Verified Answer
In a race of 600 meters, Ajay beats Vijay by 60 meters, and in a race...
When Ajay runs 600 meters.
Vijay runs 540 meters.
And when Vijay runs 500 meter
Anjay runs 475 meters.
∴ Ajay : Vijay : Anjay = 600 : 540
500 : 475
= 30 : 27 : 25.65
∴ When Ajay runs 400 meter
Anjay will run 400×25.65/30
= 342 meters.
∴ Ajay will be at Anjay by
400 - 342 = 58 meters.

In a race of 600 meters, Ajay beats Vijay by 60 meters, and in a race...
Given information:
- Ajay beats Vijay by 60 meters in a race of 600 meters.
- Vijay beats Anjay by 25 meters in a race of 500 meters.

To find:
- By how many meters will Ajay beat Anjay in a race of 400 meters?

Solution:
1. Calculate the speed of Ajay, Vijay, and Anjay in their respective races.
- Speed = Distance/Time

For Ajay:
Speed in 600 meters race = 600/T1, where T1 is the time taken by Ajay to complete the race.
Speed in 400 meters race = 400/T2, where T2 is the time taken by Ajay to complete the race.

For Vijay:
Speed in 500 meters race = 500/T3, where T3 is the time taken by Vijay to complete the race.

For Anjay:
Speed in 500 meters race = 500/T4, where T4 is the time taken by Anjay to complete the race.
Speed in 400 meters race = 400/T5, where T5 is the time taken by Anjay to complete the race.

2. Use the given information to form equations and solve for unknowns.
- Ajay beats Vijay by 60 meters in a race of 600 meters.
600/T1 - 500/T3 = 60

- Vijay beats Anjay by 25 meters in a race of 500 meters.
500/T3 - 500/T4 = 25

3. Simplify the equations and solve for T1 and T4.
T1 = 4/3 T3 + 40
T4 = 20T3/17

4. Substitute T1 and T4 in the expressions for Ajay's and Anjay's speeds in the 400 meters race.
Speed of Ajay in 400 meters race = 400/(4/3 T3 + 40)
Speed of Anjay in 400 meters race = 400/(20T3/17)

5. Calculate the difference in speeds between Ajay and Anjay in the 400 meters race.
Difference in speeds = Speed of Ajay - Speed of Anjay
= 400/(4/3 T3 + 40) - 400/(20T3/17)
= 400/((4/3 T3 + 40)(20T3/17)) * (17/3 - 1)
= 400/(4T3/5 + 68/15) * 2/15
= 800/(8T3/5 + 136/15)
= 800/(8/5(T3 + 17/6))

6. Substitute T3 = 500/(25+T4) in the expression for the difference in speeds.
Difference in speeds = 800/[8/5(500/(25+T4) + 17/6)]
= 58 meters (approx.)

Therefore, Ajay will beat Anjay by 58 meters in a race of 400 meters. Answer: (d)
