Let the population at the beginning of 1981 be 100 in all the four states.
Therefore, population in each of these states will be:
Karnataka = 100 × 1.2112 × 1.175 × 1.157
= 164.6596
Andhra Pradesh = 100 × 1.242 × 1.146 × 1.111
= 158.1322
Bihar = 100 × 1.2338 × 1.286 × 1.251 = 198.492
Tamil Nadu = 100 × 1.1539 × 1.117 × 1.156
= 148.9976
Hence, Bihar saw the highest percentage increase in population in the three decades.
