Again we get a relation between their ages but not the exact values.
So, Statement II alone is not sufficient.
Combining Statement I and Statement II
x – y = 8
⇒ (11a – 7a) = 8
⇒ a = 2
Now, x = 11 × 2 = 22 yrs
y = 5 × 2 = 10 yrs
Sum of the ages of Rakesh and Rama after 15 years = (22 + 15) + (10 + 15)
⇒ Sum of the ages of Rakesh and Rama after 15 years = 62 yrs.
∴ Both statements together are needed to answer the question.
Hence, the correct option is (C).
