Ratio of two numbers
Let the two numbers be 2x and 3x. Therefore, their ratio is 2:3.

Subtracting 4 from each number
If 4 is subtracted from each number, then the new ratio becomes 3:5.
Therefore, (2x-4)/(3x-4) = 3/5

Cross-multiplying
Cross-multiplying gives us 5(2x-4) = 3(3x-4)
Simplifying this gives us 10x - 20 = 9x - 12
Solving for x gives us x = 8

Calculating the numbers
Therefore, the two numbers are 2x and 3x, which are 16 and 24 respectively.

Answer
Hence, the answer is (a) (16, 24).
