Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the q...
1) No building had more than 10 floors.
2) Prashant lived in Building Nehru.
3) Neeraj’s floor number was thrice as that of Prashant’s floor number.
So, Prashant lived on the 1st floor and Neeraj lived on the 3rd floor.
4) Neeraj was in building Gandhi and the number of floors in his building was twice as that of his floor number.
So, the number of floors is 6 in Gandhi building.
5) Abhay’s floor number was twice as that of Neeraj’s floor number.
So, Abhay lived on the 6th floor.
6) The number of floors in building Nehru was 3 more than Abhay’s Floor number.
So, The number of floors is 9 in Nehru building.
7) Abhay was to the west of Amit who lived 2nd from the top of his building.
So, Amit lived on the same floor as Abhay i.e. 6th floor and the number of floors of Amit’s building was 8. Therefore we can say that Amit did not live at Gandhi building as there are only 6 floors, hence, he lived at Patel building.
8) Amit and Nikhil lived in an adjacent building.
So, Nikhil lived on Gandhi building.
9) Abhay lived on the floor which was immediately above Nikhil’s floor but in a different building.
So, Nikil lived on the 5th floor.
10) Prashant lived on the floor which was immediately below Pratap’s floor but in a different building.
There are two possible cases for Pratap, either he lived at Gandhi or Patel building.
11) Amit and Pratap were not in the same building.
So, Pratap lived at Gandhi building.
12) Vishal lived on floor 4 but was not in Prashant’s building.
Vishal may live either at Gandhi building or Patel building.
13) Nikhil lived on the floor which was immediately above Shubham’s floor but in a different building.
Shubham may live either at Nehru building or Patel building.
14) Shubham was to the west of Sumit.
So, Shubham lived at Nehru building.
15) Sumit and Prashant lived in adjacent buildings.
So, Sumit only could live at Gandhi building so Shubham lived at Nehru building and Vishal lived at Patel building.
16) Pratap and Shubham lived in different buildings.
From this sentence, we can say that Shubham lived at Nehru, and Sumit lived at Gandhi building also Vishal lived at Patel building.
17) Shubham and Nikhil are in an adjacent building.
The final arrangement is given below-
Thus, Amit lives in the Patel building on the 6th floor.
Hence, the correct option is (B).
