A box contains 4 blue, 3 green and 5 red gems. Four gems are drawn fro...
Total number of gems = 4 + 3 + 5 = 12
∴ Total number of ways in which 4 gems can be chosen
Each coloured gem will be chosen in the following mutually exclusive ways:
∴ Number of ways of drawing four gems in the above manner
= 90 + 60 + 120 = 270
∴ Required probability = Favourable outcomes/Total number of outcomes = 270/495 = 6/11 = 0.545

A box contains 4 blue, 3 green and 5 red gems. Four gems are drawn fro...
To find the probability of drawing gems of all three colors, we need to consider the total number of ways we can choose four gems from the box.

Total number of ways to choose four gems from the box = (Number of ways to choose 4 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 0 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 0 gems from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 3 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 0 gems from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 0 gems from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 3 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 0 gems from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 0 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 4 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 0 gems from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 3 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 3 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 0 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 4 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 3 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 3 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 0 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 4 gems from 3 green gems) * (Number of ways to choose 2 gems from 5 red gems) + (Number of ways to choose 3 gems from 4 blue gems) * (Number of ways to choose 1 gem from 3 green gems) * (Number
