Quantity II: In a test, Vivek got 181 marks which was 43 more than the passing marks. In the same exam Chetna got 52% marks which was 70 more than the passing marks. What is the minimum passing percentage of the test?

Quantity I:
Let the height of Umesh is x and Height of Vivek is 3x.
Given that 28 m height is the 40% percent increase of the original height H.
⇒ 140/100 xx` H = 28
⇒ W = `2800/140` m = 20 m
x + 3x = 20
⇒ x= 5 m
So height of Umesh = 5 m and of Vivek = 15 m
Vivek’s height = 28 - 5 `xx` `110/100` = 22.5
Increment in Vivek’s Height = (22.5 - 15) `xx` `100/15` = 50%
Quantity II:
Let maximum marks be N.
According to the question,
52N/100 - 70 = 181 – 43
⇒ 52N/100 = 138 + 70
⇒ 52N/100 = 208
∴ N = 400
Passing marks = 181 – 43 = 138
∴ Minimum passing marks percentage = (138/400) x 100% = 34.5%
