Which of the options are correct?

  • a)
    For isentropic process s1> s2

  • b)
    Enthalpy at the end of the process is 289.1 kJ/kg

  • c)
    Dryness fraction at the end of the process is 0.95

  • d)
    The change in enthalpy during the process is 276.16 kJ/kg

Correct answer is option 'D'. Can you explain this answer?

Steam at 0.6 MPa and dryness friction of 0.9 expands in a cylinder beh...
At 0.6 MPa and dryness fraction x = 0.9,
T = 158.85°C,
h1 = hf + x.hfg
= 670.6 + 0.9 x (2756 - 670.6)
= 2547.46 kJ/kg
s1 = Sf + X.Sfg
= 1.9312 + 0.9(6.760 - 1.9312)
= 6.2771 kJ/kg.K
At 0.1 MPa, entropy is constant for isentropic process
S2 = S1 = 6.2771 kJ/kg.K
T = 99.63 C
So, h2 = hf + x2 (hg - hf)
= 417.4 + 0.821(2675.5 — 417.4) = 2271.3 kJ/kg
Hence,
Change in enthalpy = 2547.46 - 2271.3 = 276.16 kJ/kg
